What you may learn from blogging

I’m blogging for a while now. Here is what I learned,

and what you could learn from my experiences as well:

1. You don’t need to be perfect, you just have to start

My passion is photography and I love to take pictures of our lovely natural environment. One day I thought:

Why not make a nature photography blog? Perhaps people out there in the internet sphere would love to look at pretty nature pictures. So I did start my nature blog It exists for many years. But in the first few years, I did not take it seriously. I was proud to get a few followers and that was ok for me.

It is important to start. Everyone’s blog grows as fast or slow as they want, and that’s ok. You will learn how blogging works.

2. Learning by doing

I learned a lot while blogging and I’m still learning new things every single day.

First of all, I’m learning to write and speak in English. English is not my mother tongue, that’s (Swiss) German. Why am I writing in English? I could use an online translator, what I sometimes do. Most of my readers are speaking English. And I wanted to improve my language skills.

It’s not a shame to make mistakes. From them, we can learn how blogging works. The mistakes show us how things don’t work and we will be able to do things the right way. Just be patient with yourself.

Don’t be afraid to learn something new and use it from the beginning, even if it’s (not yet) perfect.

3. The blogging niche is not so important

I first started with a nature photography blog. There are so many blogs in this niche. I got to know travel bloggers, motivation bloggers, health bloggers, and blogging bloggers as well. I now have followers and readers from all the different niches, because they all love nature, as I do.  There are many interesting blogging niches with much potential. I learned from blogging to re-appreciate diversity.

The important thing is, to blog about something you absolutely love, and others will love it too.

4. You are capable of more than you think

Ok, I never thought, that I would have many followers, but they are getting more and more every single day. I never thought that I would be able to make so many posts, but I did. What I learned from blogging is: I’m capable of more than I thought.

Just because I couldn’t imagine producing so much at the beginning doesn’t mean that I couldn’t do it. Do not listen to your or other’s opinions of your abilities or your strength, just start blogging, Learn everything about it, then one day you will be amazed at yourself. Do not be persuaded by others that you are not talented enough, just try, and then you will become be surprised by yourself.

How on earth can you achieve something that seems too big to achieve?

Use the salami tactic; take one slice after the other or do it like a mountain hiker: always take the next step and you will reach the top.

5. Who dares wins.

For my new blog (you are reading it right now), I dared to go self-hosted. I was always scared about this because I’m totally a technical philistine. I literally don’t know how all this technical stuff works, nor am I patient to learn all of it. But I dared anyway.

I did decide to go for this new blog  www.get1001tips.com with the hosting provider Bluehost. This hosting provider is awesome. You can start at a low budget and upgrade the plan if you want to. They provide so much material that you can learn step by step how to create your page. I also love the work surface, and everything works smoothly. You can give it a try HERE

I have not regretted this step, because it is absolutely great to have a web host by my side, whose support team answers questions at any time and helps with technical questions.

6. Don’t give up when things don’t seem to be going well.

There are not always only good, successful days, there are often seemingly bad days where nothing works as you would like. Don’t give up and don’t think your blog makes no sense. Maybe you just need a little, short break. look at something else, do a few exercises, take a walk in nature, meet up with friends (online or offline), pamper yourself, eat, drink something healthy, get enough sleep, recharge your batteries.

We cannot always just produce, we also need a daily self-care routine.

7. Blogging is hard work

Yep, I know, there are so many bloggers telling you, how they earned money with a new blog in the first month, how they made everything right from scratch. I’m not this kind of blogger. I’m rather the many-trial-and-error-way-learning-blogger. For me, if I like to have a successful blog, I must put hard work into it.

A long post is not written fast. You have to find the right words, to reflect on the topic, to research, to do so many different things to produce good content. Beautiful photos you cannot take just on the go, you have to change perspective, you must wait till you get the right moment. Digital photography allows me to try a shot many times.

There is also the social-media-and-promoting-side of blogging. You have to engage with fellow bloggers, post on social media pages, to build an audience. That is time-consuming. Many tasks have do be done for real blogging success. I often have to force myself to do these tasks, to stick on a plan, to get my a.. up outside, to take new photos or to write, or, or…

If you take blogging seriously, it’s a business: you have work much for it.

8. Enjoy success, you deserved this.

If your blog starts to succeed, just enjoy it, don’t talk it down. You were the one, who kept forcing you to write these long blog posts, make these prints, get yourself involved in your blog. So you deserve this success.

Some women are brought up to not claim anything for themselves. They do everything for the family, for others. They often struggle to claim something for themselves.

But your blog is yours alone.

I’m proud of my two blogs. If you like nature photos heat over to   www.fotosbykarin.blog

I’m glad, people like, what I do.

I enjoy the support of my fellow bloggers, THANK YOU.

Blogging teaches us to be proud of ourselves.

I’m still learning every single day many new skills.

Life is a never-ending learning story.

Please tell us about your blogging experiences. Are you proud of your blog? Are you still learning as well? What is the greatest success you reached with your blog so far?

Thank you very much for reading,

Karin
